Hello. My name is Pamela Hickein. I’m a teacher, a mother of four wonderful children and the developer of the TweedleWink™ and Wink™ learning programs.

So my answer to the question “What is Right Brain Education?” can vary, because each person who experiences it finds something new and exciting.

Why the right brain is not being
taught in your child’s school

Since the pioneering Cal-tech research of the 1960’s, we’ve known that the left brain is responsible for logical, methodical thought; the right brain is responsible for highly creative, intuitive, almost sponge-like photographic learning. Both sides are designed to work together.

The problem is that the right brain is largely ignored in traditional school environments. Schools teach through drills, repetition, tests and quizzes — all left brain. The right brain world of imagination, imagery, and applied intuition gets little nurturing or challenge.

Until now.

Nurturing the right brain

Transformation. It’s a big word — but I’m not sure what else to call what we’ve witnessed over the years.

Once the right brain opens up to the right amount and type of love, it seems that anything is possible.

And what’s remarkable is that transformation is not limited to the hearts and minds of children alone. Adults are also affected as they are teaching children.

Right Brain Education has been
life-changing for so many people.

• I have seen even the most hard-hearted people melt with heart-based relaxation techniques.

• I have seen pregnant mothers relax and initiate a special bond with their unborn children with right-brain imaging.

• I have seen children who, as infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers, had patiently been given loving right-brain instruction. They’ve blossomed incredibly as early readers, multiple linguists, mathematicians, scientists, artists, writers and confident public speakers.

How much time does it take?

Right Brain Education is not meant to replace any learning curriculum. It is meant to boost it.

You can present three simple games at the beginning of class, or at the start of your day, and then proceed through your day as usual.

And hopefully, you’ll want to do more — by changing simple things in your environment, by adding more play breaks, more opportunities for movement, teaching information through skits and songs. 4. Step 4: Mental Imaging

   Mental Imaging is the powerful process of creating vivid two- and three- dimensional images in the mind. Through practice, the images become holographic, tangible images that involve all of the senses.

5. Step 5: Observation Training

   Observation Training is a means of training the eye to see more details of every image. The more details you consciously observe, the more vivid the memory.

6. Step 6: Memory Linking

   Memory Linking consists of learning items in order by including a nonsensical story linking system which encourages the brain to visualize each component in a fun, upbeat way!

7. Step 7: Photographic Memory
   and Speed Reading

   Photographic memory consists of remembering several things at once, in order or at random. We play with picture images (photographic memory), words (speed reading), math quantity and more! This type of instant memory is considered to be more right brain and fosters creativity and intuition in learning.

Seven steps. But when you start, you begin with the first step, and then add more as you feel comfortable.

The ultimate goal

Now this part might be surprising to you. When I am asked, “What can each student or child hope to gain through Right Brain Education?” I don’t say photographic memory. I don’t say fast math calculation ability. I don’t say speed reading or holographic visualization skills. Because, as a mother, that is not important to me. Abilities are meaningless unless they are within a child who is kind and compassionate and will devote their talents to the betterment of the world.
