Inventor's Workshop

Excerpt from the Right Brain Education Home Study Program
teacher training manual

Does your child like to work with his hands? Is he continually pulling apart the home appliances only to figure out how they work and how they are put back together?

Then the inventor's workshop is the place for him.

The inventor's workshop is a place where he can create and test products in a safe environment. He has every tool at his disposal, he has all the space he needs, he can invite the experts to join him and, perhaps best of all, there's no clean up!

There are many stories to illustrate the power of this one exercise. Let's suffice it to say that children's imaginations run wild.

There are no limits. Here are just some of the inventions that have come out of this one simple exercise:

  • A computerized home multiple-video changer
  • A personal robot
  • Trackless air trains
  • Tooth-brushing mouth spray
  • A portable running track and trampoline
  • A solar-powered car
  • A carbon dioxide-powered car
  • A thought-powered car
  • A waterless swimming pool
(air inside it is dense so that people have to swim through it)
  • A walking plant that migrates during winter and summer months
  • Talking plants that remind you when to water them
  • Space ships (too many different kinds to count!)
  • Space houses
  • An underground house
  • A sky house
  • An underwater house
  • A house inside a mountain
  • A computer watch with e-mail
  • Thought mail
  • A submarine with flexible skin that moves like a fish
  • A pocket tool that includes a drill, circular saw and power hammer
  • A school booth
(computer, teacher via internet, videos, books, and virtual history lessons!)
  • A rubber rollercoaster
  • Jumping shoes
  • A weatherproof house dome
  • An endless birthday cake
  • A renewable fuel made of soil
  • A renewable fuel made of dryer lint
  • Fuel made of exhaust fumes, so that a car could start on fuel,
then use the fumes to keep going
  • An edible book (eat the knowledge)
