Tickling the Brain

By a Teacher

Eight-year-old Jeremy loved eye exercises.

Actually, he loved watching his mom do the eye exercises first. He thought that she looked hilarious! Her eyes would sweep back and forth, up and down, round and round.

When it was his turn, he felt like he had to exceed his mother's quick pace. He worked with the eye charts first, but soon found them to be too cumbersome. He wanted to go fast, and the eye charts seemed to slow him down.

So, we took them away and let him just wiggle his eyes back and forth, up and down, round and round, in the air.

His eyes moved like lightning. As his eyes went through the rhythmic gyrations, he started to laugh. (A video of this event would certainly be funny to see.) Soon, his eyes rested on his mother.

"Did I beat you?" he asked.

"You sure did!" she said as he beamed proudly.

"How do you feel, Jeremy?" I asked.

"It felt like I was being tickled in my brain. That's why I was laughing. I couldn't help it!"
